Big Christmas Wishes from Big Ed

As our year winds down and we enter the Holiday season, we are very thankful and hopeful. We just celebrated Thanksgiving, as a nation we give thanks to God for our nation’s good fortune, as established by George Washington and the other Founding Fathers. These brave souls took enormous risk to establish a country we now all have the opportunity to thrive in. It isn’t easy, and it isn’t supposed to be, but it is certainly possible. Our homeland is not perfect, but it is the greatest in the world. The American Dream is alive and well today, and I like to think that I am a living example of that – every day pursuing my goals and bettering my life, affecting my sphere of influence as best I can. In this cold world, America is a beacon of hope for those who dare to live boldly. This year, I had so much to be thankful for across the spectrum. Professionally, BLS grew again this year, and pretty impressively! We moved into a new building, the Shoemakersville Train Station. This November we celebrated our 8th anniversary in business. I am thankful for the shippers, carriers, colleagues and friends who have all been essential to getting this far. Your guidance, support and trust made this possible. As we approach Christmas, we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Through Him we have hope in eternal salvation. As a dad, I wonder what it must have been like for Joseph. I imagine he must have been petrified in a chilly cave with the animals, waiting for his wife to give birth. From there he had to take his wife and child and flee for their lives, his job was to keep them safe. It makes my life seem a heck of a lot easier! The poor guy probably had no idea who he could trust. Fortunately, I have been blessed with countless people that I can trust. I work with good customers and carriers. Great people! The logistics, supply chain and freight industry is service business; and I love it. I love helping people. I love making introductions, connecting people so that together they can accomplish more than they ever could apart. My whole life, I’ve been a people person, I just love people. I derive so much joy from my job because the people I work with, the ones I get to help every day, are the best people I know. Thank you for being part of my work and my life. When one year ends and a new one begins, we all evaluate the prior year and make plans or resolutions for the upcoming year. This year, I encourage you spend just one more hour a week with the people in your life who matter; call someone who you lost touch with, make time for relatives you don’t see as often as you should. Our lives will not be judged based on the money that we make, but by how we conduct ourselves and the lives we impact. It doesn’t take much time, effort or energy to share a smile of kindness or a word of encouragement. Try to do both just once per day, consciously. And don’t worry, we’ll be doing this resolution together. I wish you good fortune and peace in the new year! Big Ed
